Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reported that the accident occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday.
Sheriff Schmerber stated the young man was struck by the commercial vehicle along U.S. Highway 277.
The male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident and officials are investigating the tragic occurrence.
At this point in time, one male individual has been detained after he was intercepted at the Port of entry.
Sheriff Schmerber stated that the individual arrived at the Port and notified authorities he had struck something along 277.
He was referred back to an area near the Radar Base where the tragic incident had occurred.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has taken over the scene and is investigating the tragic accident.

A 27 -year-old Maverick County resident lost his life after he was struck over by an 18 wheeler in an area near the Radar Base on Wednesday, July 17, 2019.
