VILONIA, Ark. (AP) — Surveying the remnants of nature's destructive power in the country's midsection, President Barack Obama pledged Wednesday to residents of tornado-ravaged Arkansas communities that their government will stand with them until they finish rebuilding.
Obama said he wanted to visit this small city about a half-hour north of Little Rock to make sure those grieving the loss of loved ones, their homes and treasured possessions know that they will not be forgotten.
"I'm here to make sure that they know and that everybody who's been affected knows that the federal government's going to be right here until we get these communities rebuilt," Obama said after walking through a subdivision in which just six of its 56 homes had any part still standing after storms tore across the state on April 27, killing 15 people.

Vathani Logendran y su equipo de voluntarios fueron honrados por Corte de Comisionados del lunes , ya que han estado en Eagle Pass por el último mes trabajando ( Juez del Condado de Maverick David Saucedo ellos ciudadanos de honor del condado de Maverick ) en la mejora y reparación de las casas de los residentes que han sido afectados por las inundaciones de junio de 2013.
" Este es un grupo que venía de Denver, Colorado basado AmeriCorps NCCC que han estado sirviendo el Condado de Maverick para las últimas siete semanas ", declaró el Comisario Roberto Ruiz, " Ellos van a salir el jueves , y han estado ayudando a las familias cuyas viviendas fueron dañadas durante las inundaciones de junio del año pasado " .
El equipo de techado en once casas y arreglos en otras diecisiete, así como proporcionar servicios a la comunidad por otras organizaciones, como los Scouts locales, Paint the Town , Parques y Recreación, Boys and Girls Club , Frontera Esperanza, Maverick Lake County, Condado de Maverick Libertad Condicional Juvenil, Maverick Lake County, Eagle Pass Biblioteca Pública y otras dependencias locales.
Felicitaciones a AmeriCorps y sus voluntarios que trabajan diariamente para hacer una diferencia en las vidas de aquellos que han sufrido la adversidad en la cara de los desastres naturales.
