Closest to the Pin Contest to be held;
Shot will cross International Borders

In what will be a first of its kind event, the City of Piedras Negras and the City of Eagle Pass will be holding a 'Closest to the Pin' contest on Saturday to find the best golfer on either side of the Rio Bravo. Three shots from the giant flagpole in our neighboring Piedras Negras' Macro Plaza to a hole located approximately 200 yards across the river at Shelby Park will determine the historic first winner of this contest.

An accident which involved a tractor trailer which ended up jackknifed in the middle of the roadway paralyzed traffic on Highway 277 on Wednesday at approximately 10:15 AM for several hours.
Lines miles long of vehicles wanting to access the highway mounted up and members of law enforcement, the Maverick County Sheriff's Department, the US Border Patrol and even Maverick County Judge David Saucedo were seen in the area urging motorists to be careful and proceed with caution as the accident occurred on a curve creating a blind spot.
Sheriff Tom Schmerber stated that the roadway was closed for several hours before dispatch was alerted that the highway was newly opened for traffic.

An event which brought together local dignitaries, clubs and charitable organizations with personnel of the KTTT and the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino-Hotel was held on Thursday, March 20th at the magnificent new Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino Hotel.
