Maverick County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a domestic violence in progress on the 2500 block of Eidson Road  Wednesday March 12, 2014 near the 2 P.M. hour. 

Deputies were able to make contact with an elderly female who stated she had been assaulted by her granddaughter, identified as Victoria Lynette Oca.

-Maverick County Cemetery

 

County Commissioner of Precinct 4 Roberto Ruiz, announced that Commissioner's Court has been discussing the possibility of raising the fee to funeral services performed on weekends in the county cemetery. 

He said this in order to be able to cover the staff salaries of Maverick County, who are called upon to perform these tasks. 

Ruiz further added that Commissioner's Court has explored the possibility of opening a new cemetery, as the current one has few plots left. The commissioner has mentioned in the past that there is land available for a future Maverick County Cemetery, however he feels it is not an endeavor the county should pursue at this time.
