last week for the annual Fire Chiefs Conference held at the San Marcos Convention Center March 3rd-6th in which a variety of interesting presentations were taken in by our state's first responders.

The United States Border Patrol, the Del Rio Sector Color Guard, the CC Winn High School Jazz Band and Mariachi Toro Azabache all came together through the efforts of volunteers under the direction of Maribel Garay and Geraldo Hinojo, the City of Eagle Pass and the community at large who through fund raising efforts held Celebrating Women in Law Enforcement at the International Trade Center's West Room on Wednesday.

In Del Rio Monday afternoon, 35- year-old Hipolito Amaya, owner of AM-ROD Construction based in Eagle Pass, was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for his role in connection with an alleged bribery, kickback and bid-rigging scheme in Maverick County announced United States Attorney Robert Pitman and Acting FBI Special Agent in Charge Aaron C. Rouse.
