Saucedo Family Care celebrated their official grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 17.
City dignitaries were present at the ceremony to welcome the return of Dr. Juan Saucedo who was born and raised in Eagle Pass, and has been practicing medicine for over 21 years. His dream was to one day open his own clinic, and together with his wife Lydia and five children, was able to accomplish his goal.
Eagle Pass South Border Patrol agents seized $2,110,476 worth narcotics and arrested six people between May 12 and 15.
“Our agents remain steadfast in their commitment to keep dangerous drugs like these out of our country,” said Acting Chief Patrol Agent of Del Rio Sector Matthew J. Hudak. “These seizures and arrests demonstrate the contribution that our checkpoints make to our border security mission and how the continued support from our community is critical to that success.”

Only 590 voters have participated in the The Eagle Pass Independent School District Tax Ratification Election (TRE) within the first six early voting days.
The Maverick County Voter registration list has approximately 29,700 voters, however during the first day of early voting only 124 people, or 0.417 percent of the total amount of people registered to vote, did so. The voting hours were from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. averaging about 13.7 votes per hour.
On Thursday only 117 votes were cast, or 0.39 percent of the number of registered voters, with an average of 13 votes per hour in the 9 hour voting period; Friday, May 12, only 70 people came out to vote or 0.23 percent of the total registered voters averaging to 7.7 votes per hour; Monday, May 15 only 94 votes were cast throughout the day; and Tuesday, May 16 ended the voting day with only 112 voters participating.
