The Head Coach of perennial District 29-AAAAAA playoff contenders, the Laredo United Longhorns, David Sanchez has enjoyed some pretty successful seasons these past years including reaching the Regional Finals the last two years against the Judson Rockets and the Austin Westlake Chaparrals, but as Coach Sanchez said at the onset of our interview on Tuesday, they "Thought their season was going well but then we had two heartbreakers," namely the 18-17 loss to United South and the 33-29 loss to visiting San Antonio Southwest last week.
Former Lady Eagle Melanie Mendoza has been named Texas Trust Scholar Athlete of the Week after excelling on the diamond and, most importantly, in the classroom at The University of Texas-Arlington.

The Eagle Pass Eagles had to not only overcome multiple leads in their game over the United South Panthers this week, but they did it in grand fashion as they fought through adversity and a heavily laden Laredo crowd to come away with an incredible 35-31 victory, putting them at 4-0 and ending the playoff drought which meant everything to the players on this squad.
